How can a man walk with God? The Christian God is a Holy God. How do we know God is holy? He told us so. He revealed Himself to humanity in the 66 books of the Bible. From a burning bush God told Moses to take off his sandals for he was standing on holy ground. The ground was holy because God was present. God had appeared to many others in the OT. Adam/Eve, Cain/Able, Noah, and the rest of the patriarchs. However, He had never introduced Himself as holy until He spoke to Moses.
Why does God speak to man at all? God acts out of His nature. God is love. Love seeks the best for the objectives of their love. God made humanity for fellowship with Him. He made us for His own pleasure so that He could share the best thing in the universe: Himself. God is life. He made all things for His pleasure and made us to share His life with us and allow us to participate with Him in creations management and purpose.
Why does God save? Out of His love nature and purpose God came to save His people from their sins. He was under no obligation to do so. God saves so that fallen humanity may once again walk in fellowship with Him. He came to earth to seek and save the lost. Why? Because of His love for His creation and His creatures; particularly those who bear His image and likeness. God saves because the Christian God is a God of life. God hates sin because the wages of sin is death. God hates death because its very presence denies His very nature which is life. God saved to demonstrate He and He alone has power over death and can cause the dead to live again.
God saves so that fallen men can be made upright by His mercy and see Him face to face. God saves so that men may behold His glory and enjoy His presence.
God’s gift of salvation life is only on God’s terms: through Jesus Christ.
Psalm 65:4 Blessed is the one you choose and bring near, to dwell in your courts! We shall be satisfied with the goodness of your house, the holiness of your temple!
The only way sinful man can walk with Holy God is by God defeating sin and its consequences: death. . 2 Co 5:21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
And so the Word who dwelt among us now dwell within us. The God of life has given us eternal life.
1 John 5:11-13 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
